A Murderer on the Loose

Session 2: Fifthday, Thirteenth day of Palesun, Year 1121 CE.
After collecting the bounty of treasure at the bottom of the Liquid Aether Inn’s cellar, the heroes emerged triumphant. They celebrated their success, and some shared some of the Liquid Aether with Spark and Lizzy. In the morning, the heroes breakfasted in the Inn, and learned a few rumors from some of the townsfolk. First, they heard tale of a serial killer on the loose in Vilios, who was killing someone every week. Second, they learned of Mallak the Bard, who died in a freak accident two years ago, but walked into town a couple weeks back as if nothing had happened. Badger also learned from Anelyel who Lord Friedrick Merriweather is, Lord Merriweather is currently the Lord Regent of Lagenberg, a city on the coast to the east of Vilios. They were also invited by Lizzy to come to the Green Serpent, if they were interested in gold or adventure, the exact details of which she would not share at that time.

Wai’Nerym was absent for this breakfast, and the other heroes assumed that she had finally gotten the sleeping, floating Gnome, Muddwist, to wake up. Worried about the serial killer, the group decided to track the murderer down, hopefully collecting some gold along the way. Finding their way into Lower Vilios, the party met with Ser Duncan, the leader of the guards in Lower Vilios, as well as Henrik the Cleric of Orn. They learned a few things about the murderer and the mark the murderer has left. First, the murderer is definitely a female, but this woman cannot be tracked through magical or divine means. They also learned the mark belonged is used by a sect of Extia worshipers called the Deathwalkers. The three met with Lizzy in the Green Serpent and hired a large goliath named Grom to lead them deep into the catacombs. Inside the catacombs, out of luck they found the secret lair of the murderer, and decided to wait for her to return…
